Early morning phone calls, dazzling prizes, computer crashes
This week started about as brilliantly as a week possibly could: I woke up on Monday to a phone message from Donna Dalton of the Virginia Romance Writers -- THE RUNAWAY DUKE is a finalist for the Holt Medallion in two categories -- Best First Book and Best Long Historical!! I nearly sprained something jumping for joy. I got a similar call from Patricia Potter last week about DUKE's Rita nomination for Best First Book, and did a similar dance -- hopping, twirling and possibly a little squealing were involved, though it's kind of a blur now. Now I'm worried that thanks to an overachieving sibling, my second born, TO LOVE A THIEF, is going to get a complex and do something rebellious. Get something pierced or tattooed, bring home disreputable friends. LOL. Hey, *I'M* a second child. Draw your own conclusions. Next year I'll enter THIEF in the same contests...we'll see if it holds its own!
A little earlier today I was in the midst of buying a fabulous prize (or at least a very shiny one) for my Grand Finale April contest in honor of TO LOVE A THIEF when my high speed internet burped and bucked me off, taking everything else down with it -- MS Word, Outlook, you name it. ...
